Rio Tinto has agreed to resume negotiations with IndustriALL Global Union affiliate, the Australian Workers Union (AWU), after Fair Work Australia agreed that the majority of the workers at Bell Bay wanted to collectively bargain for pay and conditions.

Acerías Paz del Río workers in Colombia demand improved working conditions

The Brazilian transnational company Votorantim, which owns 70 per cent of Acerías Paz del Río, has imposed precarious working conditions and outsourced work. In response, the Sintra Paz del Río union is demanding improved conditions for workers and their families.

Paraguayans oppose Rio Tinto plans

Korean-based stainless-steel manufacturer Daiyang SK Metal has employed every union-busting tactic since January 2010 against Birlesik Metal-Is. On 15 January the workers conducting a sit-in were violently attacked by police.

Electrolux imprisons then sacks workers in Thailand
