23 April, 2021Out of the rubble of the Rana Plaza collapse, the Bangladesh Accord was created. The legally binding agreement has transformed factory safety in Bangladesh’ garment industry, saved lives, supported freedom of association and increased collective bargaining. The Accord expires at the end of next month, and it not only needs to stay, it needs to be expanded to cover garment workers worldwide.

Brands must sign International Accord

28 April, 2022Four days before 28 April, International Workers’ Memorial Day, marks the anniversary of one of the deadliest workplace accidents in the world; the collapse of the Rana Plaza in Bangladesh in 2013, killing 1,232 people and injuring scores more. The victims had gone to work in the morning, despite raising fears over the unstable structure of the building. But workers were told by the employer that they would lose their jobs if they didn’t come to work.

Joint action in Croatia’s textile industry

Garment workers, suppliers and ACT brands agree on Freedom of Association Guideline
