New lockout provisions in Ukraine violate workers’ rights12 October, 2023Ukrainian unions are objecting to the inclusion of lockout provisions in Articles 48-52 of the collective labour disputes draft law, currently under discussion in Ukraine’s parliament. The lockout provisions, which would give employers more power and strip away rights that workers already have, are in violation of the Ukrainian Constitution and international labour standards.

Unions in Bangladesh demand revision of new minimum wage16 November, 2023Minimum wage protests in Dhaka continue as workers’ demand of a higher minimum wage remains unmet. Police has been violently breaking down the protests and to date four workers have been killed and several others seriously injured. Police has registered over 60 criminal cases, in which nearly a hundred workers have been arrested, including six local union leaders.

His next hearing will be on 20 November.
