United States: Imerys locks out Montana talc workers

13 September, 2018Thirty-five members of Boilermakers Local D239 in Three Forks, Montana, have been locked out of an Imerys talc plant since 2 August 2018, after rejecting the company’s contract proposal to slash benefits and undermine working conditions. Among other demands, the company wants to freeze defined benefit pensions, end health care benefits for future retirees and gut established seniority protections.

Glass workers strike at Owens-Illinois plant in Montreal

1 June, 2023In a powerful show of unity and determination, 330 workers at the Owens-Illinois (O-I) glass factory in Montreal, Quebec, went on strike on 10 May, demanding fair treatment and better working conditions. The strike was called after negotiations between the union and company management broke down.

Unions promote and boost global dialogue with Saint-Gobain Group

9 January, 2024The current status and developments of the Saint-Gobain group were on the agenda when 20 union representatives from nine countries, representing workers in the group, met in Paris for a two day global union network meeting. This meeting was hosted by IndustriALL affiliate Fédération Chimie Energie FCE-CFDT on 19 and 20 December last year.
