IndustriALL Global Union supports Cambodian workers at ExCo in Phnom Penh

10 December, 2015Around 200 delegates from IndustriALL Global Union met in Phnom Penh on 9 - 10 December for the Executive Committee. The meeting was held in Cambodia as a show of support for the country’s 600,000 garment workers.

9 December, 2015Trade union struggles around the world, living wages, collective bargaining and expressing support for the Cambodian workers, are issues on the agenda as around 200 delegates from IndustriALL Global Union gather in Phnom Penh on 9 - 10 December for Executive Committee meetings. The garment industry employs 600,000 workers in Cambodia. As part of its global action towards living wages in the sector, IndustriALL is working with its eight Cambodian affiliates to push for higher wages.

Uruguayan unions march for rights and decent pay

4 November, 2015With banners, placards and T-shirts bearing the movement’s slogans, IndustriALL’s Uruguayan affiliates (UNTMRA, UOC and FOPCU) and other trade unions (SUNCA, SIMA, FOEMYA, SUA -AGUJA, SUTMA and SUTCRA) marched in defence of their labour rights, including decent pay, education and health and safety.

Indonesia – violence against union protestors

2 November, 201525 demonstrators were arrested and many were injured when 35,000 people took to the streets of Jakarta to protest against a new regulation that excludes trade unions from the minimum wage setting process.

3 September, 2015Around 35,000 workers took to the streets of Jakarta on 1 September to demand a new minimum wage for 2016 and improved labour laws. Indonesia’s main trade union centres, KSPI, KSPSI, and KSBSI are asking that the government increase their efforts to protect the interests of the people.
