Mining and DGOJP

IndustriALL works to build trade union power and strengthen trade unions in the mining and DGOJP (diamond, gem, ornament and jewellery processing) sectors through global support networks, campaigning and organizing to prevent “a race to the bottom”.

It is estimated the formal mining sector employs more than 3.7 million workers worldwide, of whom 1.5 million are working in developed countries, and 2.2 million are working in developing countries.

There are approximately 70 national trade unions affiliated to IndustriALL in the sector, which includes upstream links to unions in global supply chains in diamond, gem, ornament and jewellery production, as well as downstream links to other IndustriALL sectors, such as auto, chemicals, base metals, aerospace, ICT, electrical and electronics, and energy.
