Australian glass workers strike for a fair contract

20 September, 2019 Members of IndustriALL Global Union’s affiliates Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union (AMWU) and Electrical Trades Union of Australia (ETU) as part of CEPU (Communications, Electrical, Plumbing Union) are on strike over three months at the Brisbane and Melbourne sites of the US-based glass maker Owens-Ilinois (O-I) for a fair contract.

Thai and Indonesian unions foster solidarity

29 January, 2014The national campaigns against precarious work in Indonesia in 2012 and 2013 mobilized millions of workers and showed true trade union power. It inspired many unions around the world, including Thai unions participating at national workshops on precarious work, organizing and campaigning held in Bangkok, in September last year. No going back! SUTEIVP's six years of struggle for the reinstatement of workers at Vidriera del Potosí

29 January, 2014On 26 January, the Mexican trade union SUTIEVP, and IndustriALL Global Union affiliate, commemorated six years of struggle by 33 workers who are demanding their jobs back at Industria Vidriera del Potosí, a subsidiary of Grupo Modelo - AB InBev. The workers were dismissed by the company in 2008, in complicity with the corrupt labour authorities in order to weaken the independent trade union.

Persecution of Indian Holcim cement workers continues, 7 jailed

16 January, 2014The case of Indian cement workers in the facilities of Swiss based multinational giant Holcim in Chhattisgarh has come to represent the worst trend of worker exploitation in the global supply chain. Permanent employees were shifted to contract status, paid poverty wages in a deadly environment and stripped of union rights. Now, on 8 January the leaders of the contract worker trade union PCSS, otherwise ignored by Holcim, were imprisoned on sham charges pressed by former company security officers.

Agreement at Cerrejón Colombia
