1 July, 1999"International Metalworkers' Federation has set the standard for global trade union websites."

LabourStart, based in London, has awarded the IMF's new website as "Labour Website of the Week."
The motivation behind their decision was: "The International Metalworkers' Federation (sometimes known as 'the good IMF' to distinguish them from 'the bad IMF,' based in Washington D.C.) with its 21 million members in 95 countries has set the standard for global trade union websites with this newly-launched version, with its daily news updates."
LabourStart describes its own website as "the site where trade unionists start their day on the net." Their service is provided by Labour and Society International for the international trade union movement.
