At the heart of the dispute are the workers' demands for full union rights and to be recognized as permanent workers, in line with an earlier Supreme Court decision.

9 febrero, 2011In response to pressure from Jura Corp Russia, ITUA activists held a picket and called for solidarity. The management received numerous faxes from unions and other organizations including the IMF. The company was warned by the District Attorney. As a result, Jura announced it was ready to engage in talks with the union.

The struggle for direct employment and the regularization of in-house subcontracted workers will continue, but this agreement represents an important victory for the workers.
