On October 18 Austrian trade unions PRO-GE and GPA djp, the Salaried Employees, Print, Journalism, Paper Union, emerged from bargaining on behalf on 170,000 metal and industrial workers with positive results.

17 octubre, 2011Again Maruti Suzuki workers at Manesar went on strike from 4 pm on October 7, demanding reinstatement of contract workers. The strike was triggered by the company's continued lock-out, and physical attacks by hired goons on contract workers. October 9 a shot was fired.

17 octubre, 2011The National Engineering Workers Union (NEWU) joined the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) and the labour movement across the globe in commemorating the World Day for Decent Work on the 7th of October under the theme: 'Save Our Rights, Save Our Economy and Our Jobs." This is the fourth time that Zimbabwean workers have held actions on this day having first done so in 2008.

13 septiembre, 2011ICEM and IMF renewed their global framework agreement with Umicore, the Brussels-based global materials technology group with some 14,400 employees. First signed in September 2007, the agreement has been the basis for joint union-management activities. Representatives of the company, both global union federations and the European Works Council conducted joint missions in China in 2008, in Brazil in 2009 and in South Africa in 2010 in addition to the regular monitoring activities defined in the agreement.
