25 November, 2013On this 25 November, the International Day to Combat Violence against Women, IndustriALL pays tribute to those women who have been killed and harassed at work in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Morocco, Cambodia and Bangladesh. The women killed protesting for their rights in Cambodia stand for the many others who were sacrificed for their rights.

Shipbuilding and shipbreaking unions will focus on organizing Precarious Workers

20 November, 2013At IndustriALL Global Union’s Shipbuilding-shipbreaking Action group meeting on 12-14 November in Denmark, unions prioritized their activities on organizing and fighting precarious work and will start mapping Multinational Coorporation’s (MNC) in order to the possibilities of creating new trade union networks.

IndustriALL Sub-Saharan Africa Region creates Women’s Committee

18 November, 2013On 4 November 2013, In Nigeria, the IndustriALL Sub-Saharan Africa Region constituted a women’s committee to be made up of 15 women. All four regions of Africa now have a women representative. Beauty Zibula from the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers' Union (SACTWU) was elected chair of the committee.

Ethiopian textile workers union empowers women

1 November, 2013The Ethiopian Industrial Federation of Textile, Leather and Garment Workers trained 20 women together with IndustriAll from 22 to 24 October 2013 in Addis Abeba. The workshop mainly focused on empowering women. This is vital for the garment industry where it is estimated that more or less 80 per cent of the workers are women.

9 October, 2013IndustriAll, IUF and Unilever have set up a gender equality working group which spans two continents, working on the basis of video conferencing to start with.

Turkish unions discuss social dialogue and EU integration

Indonesian IndustriALL Council Creates Women's Committee

24 September, 2013On 22 September 2013 the IndustriALL Council created a women's committee in Jakarta. The women took the opportunity to plan their activity on 7 October where they intend to go to the Ministry of Manpower with a delegation of 100 women to demand decent work and to demand that more attention be paid to women's issues.

Cambodia Unity Group Sets up Women’s Committee

25 July, 2013On 28 and 29 June 2013 IndustriALL affiliates in Cambodia met to work on maternity protection and to set up a women’s committee to embrace all affiliates in the country. The meeting was attended by some 35 women.
