Solidarity support needed for suspended ZESA workers

14 August, 2012135 workers at Zimbabwe’s state owned utility, ZESA have been suspended indefinitely without pay and benefits on 17 July after a threatened strike on 10 July 2012. Hearings for these workers, which by law should take place within 14 days of their suspension, have been continually postponed and are now scheduled to begin on 16 August 2012.

Zimbabwean Miners Allege Abuse by Controversial Anjin

10 August, 2012On 3 August 2012, 1,500 workers at a mine controlled by Anjin Investments were fired when the labour court ruled their strike action illegal. Workers were demanding better pay and working conditions, in their eighth strike in two years.
