Women union leaders in South East Asia push for rights

1 December, 2015Around 50 women leaders from IndustriALL Global Union affiliates in Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines met in November to strengthen women and gender structures at all levels of national and local unions, and to improve maternal protection in each country. There is a high number of women workers in all of the countries, especially in the textile, garment, shoe and leather, and electronics industries.

Landslide kills jade workers in their tents

27 November, 2015At least 117 people were killed in a landslide in the jade mining area in northern Myanmar on 21 November. Workers and their families were asleep in their tents that were buried under the piles of rubble.
