UAW threatens to expand strike as deadline approaches

21 September, 2023IndustriALL affiliate, the United Auto Workers (UAW) is entering its sixth day of strike, and UAW President Shawn Fain has issued a stern warning: unless Ford, General Motors, or Stellantis, collectively known as the Big Three, make substantial progress towards a fair agreement by Friday 22 September, the strike will escalate.

15 September, 2023Today members of IndustriALL affiliate United Auto Workers (UAW) walked out at Ford, General Motors and Stellantis (the Big Three) marking the beginning of their Stand Up Strike.  UAW contracts with the Big Three expired on 14 September and practice pickets and worker preparations, across America began. Workers are saying record profits should equal record contracts.

Union win – US tyre workers approve USW contract

16 August, 2023Workers at South Korean-owned Kumho Tire have fought hard to join a union in the face of union busting and violations of workers’ rights. Kumho Tire, which supplies tyres for auto companies such as Chrysler, Hyundai and Kia, has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on union-busting consultants in an effort to prevent USW from organizing the tyre plant.

Apple workers join US union
