Ethiopia: Prioritizing women workers’ rights in the garment and textile sector

20 November, 2017A meeting of the IndustriALL union building project held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 16 November, with paticipation from FNV Mondiaal, Solidaridad, and the ILO, agreed to continue supporting the fight for workers’ rights by women in the garment and textile sector. Collective bargaining agreements and promoting health and safety at factories were the other key areas discussed.

Ethiopian textile workers union empowers women

1 November, 2013The Ethiopian Industrial Federation of Textile, Leather and Garment Workers trained 20 women together with IndustriAll from 22 to 24 October 2013 in Addis Abeba. The workshop mainly focused on empowering women. This is vital for the garment industry where it is estimated that more or less 80 per cent of the workers are women.

ILO issues recommendations to Russia and Belarus
