3 October, 2011After a month long struggle by workers of Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), a car manufacturing giant, at Manesar plant, Gurgaon, India an agreement is reached between the management and workers of MSIL Manesar Plant and Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union (MUKU) on September 30, 2011. The IMF congratulates Maruti Suzuki workers and hopes that the management will respect the terms of settlement in its letter and spirit.

3 October, 2011The Miners' Union reports that workers at the Sierrita mine have been locked out and the site has been occupied by other workers, in a conspiracy between the government and the company. The union has called for the immediate withdrawal of the occupation force and called on the employer to respect the agreement reached in August.

10 September, 2011The well coordinated second annual global week of action for democracy and rights in Swaziland, amongst other things, raised concerns on the bailout offered by South Africa and other planned loans with neoliberal conditionalities that will enslave the Swazi people to debt repayments and block the pursuit of a developmental agenda in the future.

7 September, 2011Civil society organisations in Malawi want to see government action on demands that can be addressed immediately, as a show of commitment to reform otherwise they will go ahead with a planned protest on September 21st. There is growing impatience that little progress has been made by government to address demands despite the UN facilitated dialogue, for which civil society cancelled protest actions planned for August 17th.
