5 August, 2009Concern for the lives of 700 autoworkers inside the plant grow as reports come in that parts of the plant near the highly explosive paint shop are on fire, workers trying to flee the fire are being beaten by SWAT team forces.
4 August, 2009Inside the plant, some 700 autoworkers sit in total darkness cut off from the outside world as the last cell phone battery dies. For the past two weeks, police have blockaded food, water and medical care and attacked workers with taser guns and concentrated tear gas dropped from helicopters.
3 August, 2009The workshop on Free Trade Agreements analysed the consequences and impact of free trade on employment and labour rights. The IMF also organised workshops on this issue in Argentina and Brazil.
