Implementing human rights due diligence in Türkiye's auto supply chains

15 May, 2025Building on the momentum of the workshop held in November last year, key stakeholders in the auto sector from Türkiye and Germany met in Ankara on 28–29 April for the second meeting of the multi-stakeholder dialogue platform. The aim is to promote and implement the principles and instruments of HRDD, particularly in the world of work and regarding trade union rights.

İmamoğlu is not alone as other opposition politicians and municipal officials have found themselves targeted.

Türkiye: metalworkers’ strike banned again

17 December, 2024Strike actions by Turkish metalworkers at major companies, including GE Grid Solutions, Hitachi Electric, Schneider Electric and Arıtaş, have been brought to a halt following a Presidential decree banning the strikes on the grounds of national security. IndustriALL Global Union and industriAll Europe condemn the ban which affects ten factories in four companies and urge the employers to not honour this attack on democracy and workers' fundamental rights.

El encuentro se centró en las condiciones de trabajo, los retos en la cadena de suministro y la finalización de un proyecto de acuerdo marco global (AMG) con la empresa para garantizar unas normas laborales coherentes en todas sus operaciones.

Striking for rights at As Plastik in Türkiye

10 October, 2024Workers at As Plastik in Türkiye went on strike nearly a month ago as negotiations for new collective agreement failed after five months of discussions. According to IndustriALL affiliate Petrol-İş, in addition to refusing to accept the union's demands, the company has dismissed 17 employees for their involvement in union activities, violating both Turkish and international labour laws.

3 October, 2024On 25-26 September, 140 representatives from rubber and tyre unions from across the globe gathered in Turkey to address key issues impacting major multinational companies like Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear, and Pirelli/Prometeon. The focus was on strengthening union power, improving health and safety standards, empowering women, and tackling supply chain challenges.

Türkiye: Steelworkers on strike for more than two months

3 September, 2024Workers at Yolbulan Metal San. Tic. Inc. located in Dörtyol district of Hatay province have reached a critical milestone marking 75 days of their strike following a deadlock in collective bargaining negotiations that began in January this year. Despite ongoing efforts to reach an agreement, talks broke down, leading to a strike on June 20, 2024.
