23 February, 2021Friday 19 February marked the 15th anniversary of the Pasta de Conchos tragedy in which 65 workers were killed at the Grupo Mexico mine. IndustriALL is demanding justice for the victims. It is also calling for the bodies of 63 workers still buried underground to be recovered.

Electrolux must compensate workers dismissed over Covid protests

9 December, 2020Earlier this year, workers at Electrolux’ factory in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, tried to engage the company in dialogue when management insisted on keeping operations running despite an emergency decree allowing only essential work, despite Covid infections among staff and a lack of personal protection equipment. When that failed, protests were launched on 7 April and the Swedish multinational responded by dismissing nearly 100 people.

18 February, 2020On 19 February 2006, 65 workers died following a methane gas explosion at the Grupo Mexico mine in Pasta de Conchos, Mexico. Only two bodies were recovered before the company sealed the mine. As the 14th anniversary of the mining tragedy approaches, IndustriALL is calling on the Mexican government to ratify ILO Convention 176 on Safety and Health in Mines.
