French court orders Saint-Gobain to pay compensation to Oise workers

12 June, 2019The labour court of Compiegne, France issued a verdict on 3 June ordering Saint-Gobain to compensate 130 employees of its specialized glass manufacturing and processing factory in Thourotte in the department of Oise.

Australian glass workers strike for a fair contract

No going back! SUTEIVP's six years of struggle for the reinstatement of workers at Vidriera del Potosí

29 January, 2014On 26 January, the Mexican trade union SUTIEVP, and IndustriALL Global Union affiliate, commemorated six years of struggle by 33 workers who are demanding their jobs back at Industria Vidriera del Potosí, a subsidiary of Grupo Modelo - AB InBev. The workers were dismissed by the company in 2008, in complicity with the corrupt labour authorities in order to weaken the independent trade union.

UK glass workers’ strike wins pay deal

16 July, 2014Unite the Union members at Tyneside Safety Glass in Gateshead, England, went on strike for three weeks in response to management’s miserly wage offer in June and July. The workers’ action won a good new contract and members returned to work on 14 July.

Turkish glass workers secure jobs

15 January, 2013After 13-days of picketing, members of Kristal-Is Union at Turkish glassmaker Sisecam won continued employment with improved rights against the company’s decision to close down the Anadolu Glass factory in Topkapı, Istanbul as of 31 December 2012.
