Nigerian unions develop strong plan to build worker power at Dangote

18 June, 2026Five IndustriALL-affiliated unions met in Lagos on 27-28 May to agree a co-ordinated response to labour rights violations across the Dangote Group. The meeting produced an action plan to build a continent-wide trade union network spanning Dangote's growing African operations.

South East Asia lags on chemical safety convention

18 June, 2026Eighty trade unionists from South East Asia said ILO Chemicals Convention 170 is essential to make workplaces safer and healthier. ILO technical specialist Halshka Graczyk told the IndustriALL South East Asia OSH webinar that more than 1 billion workers are exposed to hazardous chemicals every year. Higher concentrations over longer periods may cause fatal diseases, cancers or poisonings.

Strengthening union organizing efforts in Nigeria’s manufacturing industries

26 March, 2026An IndustriALL Global Union delegation recently held consultative meetings with Nigerian affiliates to strengthen union organizing efforts and build unity and solidarity across the country’s manufacturing sectors. Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation with an estimated 242 million people, according to the UN, possesses a broad industrial base spanning energy and electricity, oil and gas, textiles and garments, footwear, rubber and leather, chemicals, steel and engineering, among others.

Organized workers prevail over corporate evasion: A major win for labour rights

29 January, 2026On 20 January, workers in Pakistan won a landmark victory when the commissioner for workmen’s compensation and authority, under the Payment of Wages Act in Karachi, ordered IFFCO Pakistan Pvt. Ltd. to deposit Rs. 46,656,000 (US$168,019) to workers, within 30 days sending a clear message that outsourcing does not absolve companies of legal responsibility and that the rights of contract workers are non-negotiable.

Sanofi: strengthening global dialogue through the collective voice of workers

Yves Rocher must be held accountable over workers’ rights violations in Türkiye

3 December, 2025On 20 November 2025, a Paris criminal court heard arguments in a landmark case alleging that cosmetics group Yves Rocher failed to protect workers’ rights at its former Turkish subsidiary, Kosan Kozmetic. The complaint was brought by IndustriALL Global and industriAll Europe affiliate Petrol İş, supported by the NGOs Sherpa and ActionAid France, and concerns the dismissal of 132 employees in 2018, following a union organising drive at the Flormar cosmetics factory in Gebze. Eighty-one of the dismissed workers are plaintiffs in the French proceedings.

India: Over 40 killed in factory explosion

4 July, 2025On 30 June, a massive fire broke out at a pharmaceutical unit of Sigachi Industries in India, leaving more than 40 workers dead and injuring over 30 others. Many of the bodies were charred beyond recognition and DNA samples had to be collected to identify the victims. Media reports indicate that some workers are still missing as authorities continue to clear debris at the site. Approximately 143 workers were present in the factory when fire engulfed the building. 

Despite court order, justice eludes IFFCO Pakistan workers

14 November, 2024IndustriALL is calling on IFFCO Pakistan to respect workers’ rights and immediately implement the Supreme Court order, passed on 4 April 2024, that granted 55 contract workers of IFFCO, the status of permanent workers.
