Five workers burn to death at Gadani shipbreaking yard10 January, 2017At least five workers have died in a fire onboard an LPG container ship at the Gadani shipbreaking yard in Pakistan on 9 January, in yet another deadly incident at the yard. Despite scores of fatalities at Gadani in the last few months, no measures have been taken to improve safety.
2020: a year of carnage for Pakistan’s mineworkers7 January, 2021Pakistani mineworkers’ unions estimate that at least 208 workers were killed on the job in 2020. This trend seems set to continue this year, with a fatal accident on New Years’ Day, and two fatal accidents and a terror attack on 3 January. So far this year, 14 mineworkers have been killed.
Pakistan: victims of Ali enterprises factory fire begin to receive compensation 22 May, 2018In September 2012, over 250 workers were killed and 50 more suffered serious injuries in a fire at the Ali Enterprises garment factory in Karachi, Pakistan. Now, after almost six years, victims have started receiving compensation payments based on an agreement reached between German brand KiK and IndustriALL Global Union and Clean Clothes Campaign, mediated by the ILO.
Pakistan: 19 miners including rescue workers die in coal mine accident16 August, 2018 On 12 August 2018, two days before Pakistan’s Independence Day, a total of 19 including 13 coal miners and six rescue workers died in a horrific accident at Sanjidi coalmine near Quetta in Baluchistan province.

Four coal miners die in Pakistan12 September, 2017The mine safety crisis in Pakistan continues, as at least four workers have been killed due to accumulation of poisonous gas in a coalmine in Quetta's Sanjdi area on 8 September 2017. According to reports today, another three workers have died under similar circumstances in a coalmine in the Harnai area.
