Global unions call for a permanent and sustainable ceasefire in the Middle East

13 April, 2026IndustriALL Global Union is joining fellow global union federations in calling for a permanent and sustainable ceasefire across the Middle East, as the region faces mounting humanitarian catastrophe, economic disruption and an escalating toll on workers and civilians. The joint statement, signed by eleven global union organizations representing over 200 million workers worldwide, demands an immediate end to military hostilities, the protection of migrant workers and seafarers, and a commitment to diplomacy as the only viable path to lasting peace.

18 February, 2026Gennady Fedynich is the long-time leader of the independent Radio and Electronics Industry Workers’ Union (REP) in Belarus. One of many Belarusian trade unionists imprisoned in the crackdown on free unions, Gennady was released from prison in September and immediately deported to Lithuania without any documents or access to his pension.

Unions unite to defend rights across Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus

17 December, 2025For two days, trade unions from Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus met at an IndustriALL sub-regional meeting to share experiences, assess the challenges facing workers and unions, and discuss joint actions to increase unity. Although many of the countries have formal rights to organize, bargain collectively and strike, in practice, unions often face procedural hurdles that make action hard. There are high thresholds for strike ballots, broad definitions of essential services, long mediation steps, or strict notice periods.

Women workers from across Latin America push for an action plan to achieve equity in the paper sector

17 March, 2025In a historic move, women working in the paper industry in Latin America and the Caribbean held their first-ever online meeting. These women, who are all members of IndustriALL Global Union’s affiliates, came together to begin drawing up a regional action plan on equity. The meeting was an opportunity for them to exchange views and ideas, and served as a starting point for strengthening the role of women working in a key industry for the region and the world.
