Launch of NXP Asian trade union network!

22 December, 2015Trade union leaders from NXP operations in the Philippines, Thailand, and Taiwan-ROC met on 19 December in Manila, Philippines, to launch a network of Asian unions. Many of the unions have faced disputes as a result of local NXP managements’ hostile attitude towards workers.

Thai government meets IndustriALL following complaint to ILO

IndustriALL files ILO complaint against Thai Government

7 October, 2015Today, on the World Day for Decent Work, IndustriALL Global Union has filed a complaint with the International Labour Organization (ILO) against the Royal Thai Government for serous violations of trade union rights. 

Thai unions campaign for minimum wage increase

14 July, 2015IndustriALL Global Union affiliates in Thailand are campaigning alongside unions in all sectors to increase the national daily minimum wage from US$ 8.8 to US$ 10.6. Unions are also opposing a plan to return to a regional structure with minimum wage varying from between provinces.

Women form a subregional network to promote ratification of ILO Convention 183

16 September, 2014IndustriALL Global Union organized a subregional workshop on maternity protection in Manila, Philippines on 11 and 12 September 2014. The workshop was attended by some 30 women from the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia. The point was to find common ground to pursue the ratification of ILO Convention 183 on maternity protection in the different countries. Ultimately the women created a network and vowed to keep pushing for ratification.

Unity to fight precarious work in Thailand

Last April, Yongyuth, the general secretary of IndustriALL Global Union affiliate The National Metal Federation (TEAM), gave several examples from the garment, electronics and auto industries, where less than 50 per cent of the workers have permanent contracts

Building unity and power in Thailand

10 April, 2014For more than a month, 600 striking Michelin workers have been camping in front of the Ministry of Labour in Bangkok. On 9 April, IndustriALL Global Union together with all affiliates in the newly formed Confederation of IndustriALL Labour of Thailand met the workers to show global support for their struggle.

Thai and Indonesian unions foster solidarity

29 January, 2014The national campaigns against precarious work in Indonesia in 2012 and 2013 mobilized millions of workers and showed true trade union power. It inspired many unions around the world, including Thai unions participating at national workshops on precarious work, organizing and campaigning held in Bangkok, in September last year. The result was a study visit to Indonesia.
